Look at this picture for just a second. What is your very first reaction? Now take another look and think about what memories it brings up. In 1921, Rorschach wrote his book Psychodiagnostik after studying 300 mental patients and 100 control subjects. After experimenting with several hundred inkblots, he selected a set of ten for their diagnostic value. He died the following year. Rorschach had difficulty in publishing the book and it attracted little attention when it first appeared.
This one seems quite difficult to find one picture. In the middle I see a woman wearing some type of hat. She looks like she has wings; maybe she is an angel. I also see a seahorse on either side of her, with their backs toward her. I cannot really think of anything that has to do with seahorses or an angel. Wait! I actually see Italy. It is in the white area on the left side of the "woman". Italy is a place my family is familiar with; actually my family is from Sicily. My father's side of the family comes from Palermo, and my mom's side is from Taormina (My mom's maiden name is actually Taormina). We eat a lot of pasta and meatballs, and everyone is very loud. My parents both come from pretty big families, but I do not really have too many cousins. Also, they are all in their mid to late twenties, but we still get along well. Some of them have actually played a big roll in my life. Family is very important to us; family always comes first. My grandparents go to Italy every other year, but many traditions have seemed to die down a little; it is kind of sad. I would love to visit Italy someday. I have heard only the best things about it from my grandparents which makes me that much more excited to go. What is your background? Do you practice any traditions from your heritage? Tell me about them! I would love to learn more about you.
I see the face of a giant chipmunk! With a weird gaping maw! Or a weird clown with huge pants.
ReplyDeleteMy background is mixed, and I have customs that people find different. I am half Japanese, so my mom is a real big gift giver, like all presents from Japanese people circulate. But if you go to their house, you are treated much better than here. And they have no shoes in the house, and there is of course always rice in the rice cooker. In Japan there are rows and rows of unlocked bikes! And none get stolen. Filial piety is big in Japan, like a lot of asian countries.
Its nice knowing more about you too, thank you!
Looking at the picture I see two chicken separated on both top sides and in the center Timon from the end of the Lion King when he dresses as a hula dancer to distract the hyenas.
ReplyDeleteI am half German and half Italian, but have been raised mostly Italian. My dad is Italian and it is his family that I am closest with. Growing up every Sunday my aunt, uncle, and cousins would eat dinner at my grandparents, dinner on Sundays was at 3. There are also everyday aspects to my life that have an more of an Italian influence to them, usually the food I eat is Italian. The only German tradition we do is the Christmas Pickle. It is a pickle ornament that is hidden on the tree Christmas eve and in the morning whoever finds it gets a special present!
